What to bring

Pack for the weather. There is no central heating, and only a couple of small space heaters are available. Bring extra blankets and warm layers. If you would like to bring a heater, check with us before your stay.

Bedding & towels

Sheets and pillowcases for double beds, bath towels, washcloths and beach towels. Bring blankets or other warm bedding for cool nights.

Water & paper products

Water for drinking and brushing teeth: an 18.9 L jug fits the kitchen dispenser, or bring smaller bottles. Pack toilet paper, paper towels and any other paper products you use.

Food & drinks

All your food, cooking oil, spices, ground coffee or coffee pods, tea and other drinks for your group. Salt, pepper and coffee filters are provided.

For the water

Properly fitted, Canadian-approved lifejackets or personal flotation devices for everyone using a boat or paddleboard. Only a couple are on site; do not rely on their size or condition for your group.

For the evening

Firewood if you plan to use the fire pit, plus flashlights for getting around after dark.

Personal & pet supplies

Shampoo, conditioner, shower soap and your other toiletries. Bring everything your pet needs if they’re coming along.

If you plan to fish

Your fishing equipment, and your own motor if you want to use the cottage’s aluminum fishing boat.

What’s provided

• Five double beds, with two pillows per bed.
• A kitchen with stainless-steel appliances, cookware and counter space.
• Hand soap, coffee filters, salt and pepper.
• A water dispenser for 18.9 L jugs; bring the water.
• Fans in each room and a few board games.
• Paddleboards, two kayaks, a canoe and paddles.
• An aluminum fishing boat; a motor is not supplied.

Bed linens, towels and paper products are not supplied with direct bookings. Pillows are provided; please bring pillowcases.

The cottage & waterfront

Sleeping arrangements

Five double beds across four bedrooms: one in each of three rooms and two in the fourth. Eight guests fit comfortably; the maximum is ten.

Bathroom & showers

The cottage’s three-piece bathroom has a claw-foot tub with a handheld shower, not a stand-up shower. There is also an outdoor shower on the cottage deck.

Time on the decks

The large front deck has loungers, a BBQ and outdoor dining for up to eight. The smaller back deck has Muskoka chairs.

Beach & dock

A beach, long floating dock and fire pit sit beside Hay Bay. As with any natural waterfront, shoreline and water conditions change throughout the year.

A natural property

The grounds are being naturalized, with a maturing meadow rather than a lawn. There is no grassy play area. Expect seasonal insects.

Water & connectivity

Bring water for drinking and brushing teeth; the hosts do not certify the cottage supply for those uses. There is no Wi-Fi or TV, but cell service is excellent.

Arriving

Self check-in is available, with parking for three vehicles. Bringing your own boat? There is a public launch nearby on South Shore Road. See location information.

House rules

Neighbours & the cottage

• No parties or events. Keep gatherings to the guests included in your booking.
• Respect our neighbours and do not enter their properties without permission.
• Close windows when it rains. Keep cottage belongings on the property, including chairs, kitchenware and any cottage linens.
• Conserve water and septic capacity: leave urine unflushed when practical, and always flush solid waste.

On the water & around the fire

• Enter the water and use water equipment at your own risk. Keep children within arm’s reach and under constant supervision in the water or on the beach.
• Bring properly fitted, Canadian-approved lifejackets or PFDs for your group. The hosts do not certify the safety of the flotation devices on site.
• Before taking a boat or paddleboard out, check the weather and carry all safety equipment required for that craft. Consult Transport Canada’s boating guidance.
• Before every fire, call the fire reporting number posted on the fridge and follow current fire restrictions.

Before you leave

• Wash all kitchenware you used.
• Remove your food and drinks from the fridge.
• Separate rubbish and recycling into the receptacles provided.

Arranging a direct stay

Send your dates and group details for a quote. Pets are welcome with no pet fee. Your stay is confirmed once the dates, price and booking terms are agreed.

For direct bookings, we’ll request a $300 security deposit. We’ll explain payment arrangements and the deposit’s return terms with your booking.
